Yoke Lore is the latest musical endeavor from Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Adrian Galvin. The debut EP, Far Shore, melds the folksy timbre of a banjo and adds echoing waves of vocals and percussion to create unforgettable pop music with tactile sincerity and conviction.
Glavin grew up in an artistic family, his mother a director and his father an actor and sculptor. He was immersed in painting, photography, and ballet from an early age, eventually finding his first musical passion in the drums. Whilst pursuing music, his artistry in other disciplines has not faltered — in fact, he drew the Far Shore EP artwork himself. When not working on music, he stays busy dancing with modern art troupe Boomerang in Brooklyn and teaching yoga.
After a series of rock and folk bands through high school and college (including an early stint in Walk The Moon), Galvin co-founded the duo Yellerkin in 2013. He has since forged a new musical path in the form of York Lore, a project founded in the essence of human connection.
Singles “Safety” and “Hold Me Down” climbed near the top of the Hype Machine ‘Popular’ chart and saw Spotify playlist love (New Music Friday, The Indie Mix, Weekend Buzz, Ultimate Indie). “Hold Me Down” reaching over 1 million plays on Spotify.
“Hold Me Down” is about, “needing to be contained, enveloped and cocooned by our loved ones,” Galvin describes. “Part of feeling loved and cared for is a feeling of being sensually held down and protected. It’s risky to look for and allow a person to protect you, and it’s courageous to trust someone else.”
